Performing Arts is an artists’ management company, representing stage directors, set, costume and lighting designers, conductors and choreographers. Founded by Richard Haigh in 1983, it is now managed by Samantha Lambourne.
Richard Haigh was a bassoonist in the National Youth Orchestra and a Choral Scholar at Durham Cathedral. He has a degree in languages and archaeology from Durham.
Richard’s first job was with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1971 he moved to London where he taught briefly in the East End and then became Librarian and Orchestra Manager at Trinity College of Music. He joined the London Sinfonietta in the early 1970s and left to work for Allied Artists agency.
His next venture was the Dutch company, De Koos, for whom he set up a London office and where he represented such clients as Jorge Bolet, Kathryn Stott, the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and Elly Ameling.
After a brief period with Trafalgar Perry management he founded Performing Arts in 1983.
After 32 years managing the company Richard retired in May 2015.
Samantha Lambourne: Sam is an Artists’ Manager and Managing Partner alongside Richard Haigh. She has worked at Chichester Festival Theatre, Scottish Opera, ENO and Glyndebourne, where she was their Production Co ordinator. She also launched a fashion sports wear brand for female football supporters. She previously worked at Performing Arts in 1998 for 2 years and returned in 2007.
Sophie Rafalowska-Dunning handles the administration of contracts, database and website for Performing Arts as well as the agency’s financial administration. Her background is in Theatre marketing and publicity.
