Irina Brown


Irina Brown, born and educated in St Petersburg, has lived and worked in Britain since 1978, establishing a versatile career as opera and theatre director, dramaturge, adapter and teacher of acting, directing and theatre design. Her work spans the experimental and the popular, classical drama and new writing, opera and musicals. Notable work has included directing the award-winning Further Than the Furthest Thing by Zinnie Harris at the National Theatre, Orango by Shostakovich for the Philharmonia Orchestra, standing as Artistic Director of the Tron Theatre, Glasgow 1996-1999 and joint artistic director with Timberlake Wertenbaker for Natural Perspective Theatre Company 2007-2011. She currently a board member of Stone Nest, a performing venue in London’s West End.

In 2018 Irina will be directing a new production of Anna Bolena at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Germany, among other projects.
