The successful actor, writer and director Jonathan Moore has received a number of prestigious awards for his opera direction.
Productions include: Turnage's GREEK (Münchener Biennale 1988, Edinburgh Festival and English National Opera also BMW Prize, Olivier Award nomination and BBC TV); von Bose's 63 DREAM PALACE (Munich 1990 + BMW Award); VIER HIMMELS RICHTUNGEN by Tobias Kästle (Munich 1994 + BMW Award); Berkeley's BAA BAA BLACK SHEEP (Opera North, BBC TV and the Cheltenham International Festival 1993); Copeland's CASK OF AMONTILLADO (Barbados 1994); Schnittke's LIFE WITH AN IDIOT (ENO + Scottish Opera 1995); McQueen's EAST AND WEST (Almeida Opera 1995); Henze's MARATONA DI DANZA (Basler Ballett 1996); Macmillan's INES DE CASTRO (Scottish Opera at the 1996 Edinburgh Festival, later televised); Henze's ELEGY FOR YOUNG LOVERS (La Fenice 1998); Franke's MOTTKE THE THIEF (Oper Bonn 1998); Müller-Wieland's DIE VERSICHERUNG (Darmstadt 1999); Michael Nyman's FACING GOYA (Santiago de Compostella 1999) and DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE (Scottish Opera 2004).
His latest production of SEX, CHIPS, ROCK AND ROLL was for the Royal Exchange Manchester.
