Chuma Emembolu trained under the Head of Lighting at the Royal Shakespeare Company, where he worked as Lighting Technician on productions including Tales of Ovid and Richard II. He went on to become Technical Director and Lighting Designer for Aequitas Theatre Company, before leaving to pursue a career in lighting design.
Since then, his work has been seen at many fringe theatres and festivals across the UK. His recent work includes lighting In The Wake Of for WooHoo Debbie at The Lion and Unicorn; Metamorphosis for Off the Cliff Theatre and Romeo and Juliet for Controlled Chaos Theatre, both at Waterloo East Theatre; Last One Here for Tripped Theatre and Gift of the Gab (also Sound Design) for Shiny Pin Theatre, both at The White Bear Theatre and Dare to Do for Ka Zimba Theatre at The Space.
He is an Associate Artist to Bread and Roses Theatre where he has lit many productions including Fleeced for Matipo Theatre, Blue Tights, Red Knickers and an ‘S’ On Her Vest for Thematic Theatre, No Exit for Rose Theatre Co and The Buzz for the Bread and Roses in house company, among others.
Chuma is also a Sound and Projection designer.
